One of my best presents from a friend was a goat. Really!! Through Unicef or any other aid agency you can spend something like $20 for a couple of chickens, $40 for a goat for a family in Africa. There are other schemes where you can buy a girl a bicycle so she can get to school. It's just an idea, but everyone wanted to listen when I said I got a goat for christmas!!!

Maybe you could get her a gift certificate to a book store. Every bean loves books.
How much are you supposed to spend? A gift certificate sounds good to me, either to a nice store or a local restaurant. I mean, everyone wears clothes and eats!
